Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1974. Completed the Master’s program at the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School in 2008. She has garnered attention for artworks that visualize time through traces of presence, such as objects shaped from everyday items using naphthalene, and installations that incorporate salt, the crackling sounds of ceramic glaze, and leaf veins.In 2013, she won the inaugural Grand Prix at the “Nissan Art Award.” Her major solo exhibitions include “Gaps Along the Way” at the Ohara Museum of Art’s Yurinsō (Okayama, 2017) and “Aiko Miyanaga: Nakasora—Empty Space in the Air—” at the National Museum of Art, Osaka (Osaka, 2012).
