Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1975; currently resides in Tokyo. Professor in the Department of Oil Painting at Tokyo University of the Arts; Lecturer at the Image Forum Film Research Institute. He has developed a unique artistic approach that seeks to offer a new perspective on the essence of painting by recreating classical paintings as photographic and video works using real objects. Through works such as “Still Life Videos,” which utilize photography-based animation techniques, and “Still Life Photographs,” which condense the time inherent in paintings, he recreates serene painterly spaces while capturing vivid reality.
