In Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, the art festival Ichihara Art × Mix has been held since 2014 with the aim of addressing regional challenges and increasing the number of visitors to the area. Through art as a medium, the festival has worked to rediscover and make use of the region’s unique attractions. Building on this initiative, in 2024 the Chiba Prefecture 150th Anniversary Project, Uchiboso Hyakunengo Art Festival: Environment and Desire was developed through public–private collaboration across five cities in the Uchiboso area (Ichihara City, Kisarazu City, Kimitsu City, Sodegaura City, and Futtsu City). In 2027, this initiative will be further expanded with the Boso Triennale 2027, jointly organized by Chiba Prefecture, Ichihara City, Kisarazu City, and Otaki Town.
